POLICE CLAIM THAT FOUR MISSING MEN'S REMAINS DISCOVERED IN OKLAHOMA WERE SHOT AND MUTILATED
According to officials, four
guys from Oklahoma who went missing while riding a bicycle were shot and their
dismembered remains were dumped into a river.
Before human remains were
discovered in a shallow area of the Deep Fork River last week, Mark Chastain,
32, Billy Chastain, 30, Mike Sparks, 32, and Alex Stevens, 29, were reported
missing, according to Okmulgee Police Chief Joe Prentice.
About 40 miles south of
Tulsa, near Okmulgee, the bones were discovered.
Prentice added that even
though all four had been shot, it took longer to identify them since their
corpses had been cut into pieces.
According to Prentice,
"We think the males intended to engage in illegal
activity." "We don't know what they had in mind or where they were
going to carry it out,"
Investigators' conviction is based on the testimony of a witness who was asked to accompany the guys as they prepared to "hit a lick large enough for all of them," as Prentice put it, which is slang for committing a lucrative crime.
Police were directed to a
scrap yard over the weekend by the inquiry.
Prentice said that although
there was "nothing exceptional detected within the salvage yard,"
there was "evidence of a violent occurrence uncovered on an adjacent
property."
Prentice identified Joe
Kennedy, the proprietor of the salvage yard, as a "person of
interest" who investigators want to speak with.
According to Prentice,
Kennedy was reported missing Saturday night and "may be suicidal."
Police then reported that
they had discovered Kennedy's blue Chrysler PT Cruiser "abandoned behind a
store" in Morris.
Investigators are examining
how it got there, according to a statement from the police. "At this time,
Kennedy's car information is unavailable."
Prentice almost described
Kennedy as dangerous before he stopped.
I don't have any information
that Mr. Kennedy is a danger to anybody else, but I would proceed with
care," he stated. Call the police if you see Mr. Kennedy and let them
know.
The bulk of the remains was
discovered on Friday, but somebody pieces weren't uncovered until Sunday and
Monday morning, according to authorities. There has been no finding of the
men's bicycles.
The victims' loved ones were prepared
for positive identifications, but they were shocked by the gory nature of the
men's deaths.
According to Prentice, the new information on the dismemberment "was clearly shocking." They
were in great distress.
Even though the case has
changed from a missing person inquiry to a murder investigation, Prentice
assured loved ones that officers would continue to go ahead with the same
determination.
We've been working nonstop
all week, he said. We were out all weekend, and we'll keep working at the same
speed to determine precisely what happened to their lives and who
was responsible.
