RECYCLED ALUMINIUM FROM THE TYPE 72 F1 CAR IS USED FOR LOTUS EVIJA FITTIPALDI'S DEBUT.
Only eight were
produced, and all eight were purchased.
The Lotus Evija hailed
as the most potent production vehicle in the world is once again making news
as the Norfolk-based company introduces a special version. The new Fittipaldi
version, which is a part of the same 130-unit manufacturing run, commemorates
50 years since the renowned Brazilian racing car driver won in 1972. Emerson
Fittipaldi and Team Lotus won the F1 Drivers' and Constructors' Championships
in that year.
The Evija's livery, of
course, is a replica of that of the successful Type 72, which Fittipaldi raced
to five wins during the 11-race 1972 F1 season. In 2022, the well-known black
and gold color scheme will turn 50. It was hand-applied here. A plan view of Type 72 engraved into the exposed carbon fibre completes it. There are more
references to Evija's inspiration, such as an "8" on the B-pillar that
serves as a reminder of the racing car's number from that year. The rear wing
has stickers at the back honoring the F1 victories that year.
The
"standard" Evija's specifications for its all-electric Fittipaldi
edition include quad motors with 2,011 horsepower (1,500 kW) and 1,704 Nm
(1,257 lb-ft). It has the power to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in
under three seconds and from 0 to 186 km/h (300 km/h) in the low nines. It has
an electronically limited top speed of 217 mph (350 km/h). In the WLTP combined
cycle, Lotus hopes to achieve a maximum range of 250 miles (402 kilometers) on
a single charge.
The Evija Fittipaldi,
which will only be produced in an edition of eight automobiles, will be
progressively delivered to buyers starting in early 2019.
